News from the Guidance Counselor……..

 

College Visit: A representative from Lincoln Tech in Indianapolis will be visiting Covenant on Tuesday, February 9. Josh will be here from 11:00 a.m. until the end of lunch break. He will be giving a brief presentation at the beginning of activities period in the cafeteria. If you have any interest in careers in the automotive industry, business and IT, skilled trades, spa & cosmetology or culinary arts you might want to check out what Lincoln Tech offers. Important Information for Juniors:

 

Do you have a plan for ACT/SAT testing? You should be making a plan now! In order to sign-up for a test and/or find some resources for test preparation check out the following websites: www.actstudent.org (ACT) and www.collegeboard.com./testing (SAT). The June 12 ACT offered at Covenant fills up quickly so register now. Our School Code is 150-798 and our test site number is 222670.

 

There will be some ACT test preparation offered at Covenant prior to the June 12 ACT test date. This test preparation usually takes place the first week of June. Students who took the PSAT have a code on their report that enables them to access a personalized study program for the SAT. (Mrs. Dorn has copies of your code in the office). If students wish to begin preparing for ACT/SAT testing they should visit the following websites:  ACT www.studyguidezone.com/acttest.htm , SAT  www.collegeboard.com. or check out one of the study guides in the library.

Indiana’s FAFSA Fridays: Learn More Indiana is offering a free instructional webinar to show students how to fill out a FAFSA form and let them chat online with financial aid experts. The live webinar will broadcast at 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. EST on Friday, February 12 and 19, at LearnMoreIndiana.org/CashforCollege.

 

College Goal Sunday: At this free event, students and parents can submit the FAFSA with help from financial aid experts, primarily from Indiana colleges and universities. This year’s College Goal Sunday will take place at 2 p.m. (local time) on February 21 at 37 sites across the state. To find the locations or more information, visit CollegeGoalSunday.org or call 1-800-8992-2076.

St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer is a site for College Goal Sunday for 2010.

 


Matching Gift Challenge

  1. What are the specific matching gifts?
    1. The donor has now committed to a matching gift of up to $25,000 towards the $50,000 10th Anniversary Gift budget line item.
    2. The donor has now committed to a matching of up to $15,000 towards the goal of raising $30,000 of individual gifts for Tuition Assistance.
  2. What is the up-to-date status of gifts received?
    1. $50,000 goal – received $18,155
    2. $30,000 goal – received $ 4,660

Chicken Dinner at DMC

You’ve asked for it and now it’s back----The World’s famous Chicken Bus is coming back to DMC. Mark your calendars. February 18 from 5-7 P.M. DMC will be having a chicken dinner. Husbands give your wife a belated Valentines gift and give her the night off from cooking. All proceeds will go to help offset the cost of the Washington D.C. trip next year. Come on out, enjoy dinner and help support our students.

Calvin College Capella Choir Coming to Community CRC in Roselawn!
